Elopement Ceremony Officiant in Angus

Your intimate wedding deserves a warm, personal touch without the fuss of a big event.

Why Choose an Elopement Ceremony

You're not looking for a big production. You want to get married without the stress, the guest list drama, or the months of planning. An elopement ceremony lets you focus on what actually matters - the two of you saying yes to each other. We keep it simple, legal, and genuinely meaningful.

Maybe you're eloping in your backyard, at a favourite park, or even in your living room. We've officiated ceremonies in all kinds of spots around Angus and nearby areas like Barrie and Collingwood. The location doesn't need to be fancy. What matters is that it feels right to you.

We handle the legal paperwork, guide you through the short ceremony structure, and make sure you're actually married when we're done. No fluff. No awkward speeches you didn't ask for. Just the vows, the signatures, and the moment you've been waiting for.

What's Included in Your Elopement

You get a quick phone or video call before the day so we can chat about your vows and any readings you want. Some couples write their own words, others prefer something traditional. We'll figure out what fits. The ceremony itself usually runs 10 to 15 minutes - long enough to feel real, short enough that nobody's checking their watch.

We bring the marriage license paperwork, sign it right after the ceremony, and file it with the province. You don't need to worry about whether it's legal or if you missed a step. That's our job. If you want to add a reading or a small ritual like a ring exchange, we'll work that in. If you just want the bare-bones legal minimum, that's fine too.

Travel within Angus and the surrounding area is included. If you're planning something at a cottage near Wasaga Beach or a quiet spot in Orillia, we'll come to you. You're not locked into a specific venue or time slot. Elopements are flexible by design.

How Elopement Ceremonies Work

First, you reach out and tell us your date and rough plan. We'll confirm we're available and talk through the basics. You'll need to apply for your marriage license from the province - we can point you to the right forms, but you handle that part. Once you've got the license, we're good to go.

On the day, we show up about 10 minutes early to make sure everything's set. We'll do a quick sound check if it's outdoors and windy, confirm the order of events, and then we start. The ceremony is short and focused. You say your vows, exchange rings if you're doing that, and we pronounce you married. Then we sign the paperwork with your two witnesses.

After that, you're free to celebrate however you want. Some couples grab dinner, some pop champagne, some just head home and order pizza. We're not here to tell you how to spend your day. If you're curious about other ceremony styles, we also offer Custom Vow Ceremony and Civil Wedding Ceremony options for couples who want a bit more structure or personalization.

Who Elopements Are For

Elopements work for couples who don't want a big wedding. Maybe you've been together for years and just want it official. Maybe you're on a tight budget. Maybe you hate being the centre of attention. Maybe you tried planning a big wedding and realized it wasn't fun anymore. All valid reasons.

We've worked with couples in their twenties and couples in their seventies. Some are getting married for the first time, others are on their second or third marriage and want something low-key. Some have family watching via video call, others keep it just the two of them plus the required witnesses. There's no wrong way to elope.

If you're thinking about renewing vows down the road after a bigger celebration, we also handle Vow Renewal Ceremony services. But for now, if you just want to get married without the circus, an elopement ceremony is the move.

Booking Your Elopement in Angus

Get in touch as soon as you have a date in mind. Elopements are easier to schedule than full weddings, but we still book up during peak summer months. We'll lock in your date, go over pricing, and answer any questions you've got about the process.

Most couples book us two to eight weeks out. If you need something faster, let us know. We've done same-week elopements when schedules align. If you're looking for a more formal ceremony structure, check out our Traditional Wedding Ceremony option. But if you want simple, private, and personal, an elopement is exactly what you need.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an elopement ceremony take?

The ceremony itself runs 10 to 15 minutes, start to finish. We show up a bit early to get organized, then do the vows, ring exchange, pronouncement, and paperwork signing. You're legally married in under 20 minutes total. If you want it shorter or slightly longer, we can adjust.

Do we need witnesses for an elopement in Ontario?

Yes. Ontario law requires two witnesses over 18 to watch the ceremony and sign the marriage license. They can be friends, family, neighbours, or even strangers you ask nicely. We don't provide witnesses, but if you're truly eloping alone, you can usually find someone at the location willing to help.

Can we elope anywhere or does it have to be a specific venue?

You can elope almost anywhere in Angus or the surrounding area. Your backyard, a park, a beach, a hiking trail, your living room. As long as it's accessible and safe, we'll come to you. Private property is fine as long as you have permission. Public parks usually don't require permits for small ceremonies, but double-check local rules if you're worried.
