Elopement Ceremony Officiant in Angus, ON

Just the two of you, your vows, and someone who makes it official without all the extras.

Why Couples Choose an Elopement Ceremony

You're not interested in a big production. You want to get married without the stress, the guest list drama, or the months of planning. An elopement ceremony is exactly that - you, your partner, and the legal part handled by someone who gets it. We meet, you say your vows, I sign the paperwork, and you're married. It's simple.

Some couples elope because they're private people. Others just don't want to spend thousands on a single day. Maybe you're planning a bigger party later, or maybe this is it and you're perfectly happy with that. Either way, we make sure your ceremony feels like yours. No cookie-cutter script, no awkward formality you didn't ask for. If you want something that feels more personal than a Civil Wedding Ceremony, we can do that. If you want bare-bones legal, that works too.

What's Included in Your Elopement

You get a short ceremony - usually 10 to 15 minutes - that covers the legal requirements and whatever personal touches you want. We'll have a quick chat beforehand so I know if you're writing your own vows, if you want a reading, or if you just want me to keep it short and sweet. I bring the license, you sign it, I file it. Done.

Most elopements happen at your place, a park, a backyard, wherever feels right. I've done ceremonies in Barrie at a couple's favourite coffee shop and on a dock in Wasaga Beach at sunrise. If you're keeping it ultra-private, I can meet you at your home in Angus or anywhere nearby. You're not locked into a venue, and you're not paying for hours you don't need.

How Elopement Ceremonies Work in Ontario

Ontario law says you need an officiant, a marriage license, and two witnesses. That's it. If you don't have witnesses lined up, I can usually arrange that - just let me know. The license comes from your local municipal office, and you'll need to apply at least a few days before the ceremony. I'll walk you through what to bring and when.

Once we've done the ceremony and signed everything, I file your paperwork with the province. You'll get your official marriage certificate in the mail a few weeks later. If you want something more personalized than a standard elopement but not as involved as a Traditional Wedding Ceremony, we can build that too. It's your day, and it should feel like it.

Elopement Timing and Flexibility

Elopements are flexible by nature. You're not coordinating a hundred guests, so we can work around your schedule. Weekday mornings, Sunday afternoons, whatever works. Some couples book a month out, others reach out a week before. I do my best to accommodate short notice, especially if you're keeping things simple.

If you decide later you want a Vow Renewal Ceremony with family and friends, that's totally fine. Plenty of couples do a private elopement now and a bigger celebration later. You're already legally married, so the second event is just about the party. No pressure, no timeline.

Booking Your Elopement in Angus

Reach out and tell me your date, your location, and how much (or how little) you want me to say. I'll send over a simple agreement and answer any questions about the license or logistics. If you want to personalize vows or add a reading, we'll sort that out in a quick call or email exchange. If you just want the legal minimum, that's fine too.

Pricing depends on travel and timing, but elopements are straightforward and we keep it that way. You're not paying for a full Custom Vow Ceremony package if you don't need one. Let's get you married without the fuss.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an elopement officiant cost in Angus?

Most elopement ceremonies run between $200 and $400, depending on location and timing. If you're in Angus or nearby, we're on the lower end. Weekday mornings are usually easier to schedule than Saturday afternoons. Travel to spots like Collingwood or Orillia might add a bit, but we'll talk through that upfront. You're not paying for hours of coordination - just the ceremony and the paperwork.

Can we elope with just the two of us, or do we need witnesses?

Ontario law requires two witnesses over 18 to sign your marriage license. If you don't have anyone, I can usually bring someone or arrange it - just let me know when you book. Lots of couples elope with just witnesses they've never met before. It's totally normal and completely legal.

How far in advance do we need to book an elopement ceremony?

Ideally a week or two so we can confirm the date and you have time to get your marriage license. That said, I've done elopements on a few days' notice when schedules align. Reach out as soon as you know your date and we'll make it work if we can. Elopements are meant to be low-stress, and booking shouldn't add to that.
